Hi,
I was asked to introduce myself, which is understandable...
I am a 36 year old doll collector from Finland. I'm quite new to it all: have been collecting only for about a year and half. It all began when I had finished my art studies and felt exhausted. I saw a couple ooak bratz dolls in the Finnish 'ebay' which were transformed into an evil step mother and witches. Somehow they *hit* me because I had just been working with the goddess, wise woman and witch -themes the past years. I did extensive research on the subject and femininity across the centuries. So I decided to buy the dolls. There is a talented ooak clothes maker selling in the Finnish 'ebay' and so I fell in love in her creations - kept on buying. I have a witches house on the prohgress with teacher dolls and student dolls, almost like a feminine version of Harry Potter.
When this story telling and playing through dolls began I started to look for my childhood Sindys and Daisys as well. Sindys were my absolute favourite: I have kept them (6) and the 3 horses. Slowly I found a Sindy house in Finland (really rare here) and bought it - I started to fulfill my childhood dreams. Quickly I began to look for information on Sindy, found all these wonderful web sites - and learned a lot. Ever since then I have switched gear into Sindy collecting. Occasionally I do buy Daisy too, but I have only 10 of them. I just counted that I have now 63 Sindys, bratz dolls which are transformed into goddesses and witches I have around 100. My great interest is to make homes for the dolls and so my house is really cramped with dolls, but since I live alone with 3 cats, no one can complain!
Nice to make a strat at the forum. I have been too shy for long, since I wasn't sure if I will continue collecting, but now there seems to be no escape from the path. It's really part of me and my enjoyment of life - even though very 'plastic in form', very much needed for fantasy and playing, imagination. I need to play
Nice to meet you all and I hope we can talk more!
