Can i share this pic with you all? We were walking along Whitley bay one morning after stopping in newcastle overnight, and we saw this little Seal pup sleeping! I was afraid it might not be alive at first, but upon closer inspection he was snoring away! I just thought he looked so vulnerable..there were lots of dogs running around off their leads. It only takes a nasty one doesnt it? Bless him, hope he got back to the sea ok when he woke up (the tide was really out far) My 4 year old daughter thiught it was amazing, we were all just stood there staring! So glad i had my camera with me. P.S Think he did a dooodaaahhh!!

Oh no..do you think it looks poorly sue? I was wondering if it was weaned off its mum..not sure about the colourings etc of the seals..i know they are white when theyre born..?? One promsising thing though Sue..there is an underwater centre nearby, im sorry i cant remeber the name, a bit like the deep sort of place..and they had put a little piece of paper attached to a stick in the sand (?) saying something like "Please leave me alone and keep your dogs away, this is normal, i will return to the sea when i am ready"..i still thought it looked a little vulnerable, i just thought perhaps if they thought it was in danger or sick they would have rescued it? It had rspca on the bottom of the paper. You know, i might ring the centre if i can remember the name! See if it was ok. Would its mum be nearby Sue? I love seals too...i love all animals really but seals especially. Like little puppies! So playfull.

Aaawwhhh Bless.
I'd have been worrying about it too.
Anybody able to get to Skegness on the Lincolnshire coast there is a Seal Sanctury on North Grand Parade just up from the Pier. If anyone ever goes to Skeggy please say hello to my fave little Pier too for me.

Cheers Sue.
Living at the opposite side of the country on the West Coast i can never get to good ole Skeg these days. I was there last for the day in Sept 04 on a day trip when i spent a weekend at my Mums in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. I do miss seeing the place and the pier so much. I remember it looked so clean and smart compared with big brash Blackpool.
