I am a 68 year old grandmother thoroughly enjoying the dolls my married daughter with no family left at home and my sons' daughters began to play with them and I realised being a "war baby" I had missed out and started researching all the dolls of the 70s. I joined dolls unlimited and members have been so kind teaching me and filling in the gaps in my knowledge. I particularly adore Amanda Jane, Sindy, Daisy and have the full set of Pippa dolls. I have also managed to collect some Pepper and Tammy dolls, but would like to learn a lot more about Sindy, having quite a number - so much to learn. I found the Petra, Sindy and Barbie dolls site very informative. My question now is about the hole in the back of some of Sindy's heads. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS & Regards, Marie

Hello Marie and a very warm welcome..... Oooo i hope i'm playing with my dolls when i reach that age too..never too old to have a childhood eh! I Only have boys, 13 & 7, they don't appreciate my girls..so i'm glad i have a forum to escape to...although hubby is very understanding and lets me indulge in my hobby. The hole in the back of the head we believe was for fixing sindy to the box that she came in to keep her hair style (ballerina bun) in good shape. They came with a sort of round plug/disc like fastener. That's the only plausable explaination we can come up with , this seems to be with only active Ballerina sindy's...but i could be wrong I'd love to see your dolly collection...if you get the chance to take pictures of them please post them on here Lynn x

Hello Marie, I'm new here too! As far as I know the hole is just where the doll was attached to the box but I'm sure others will know for sure. Your collection sounds lovely. Hope to see some pictures and chat soon. Sheila x
