My name is Denise and as a little girl I woke up one Christmas morning with a doll house built by my grandfather filled with Sindy furniture. I still have all of my items in their original boxes. I found this website and thought it would be neat to see what everyone else has. One of these days I will have to pull all of my items out and post pics.

Firstly, Hello Denise and a very warm Welcome to you!! Your grandfather sounds very much like an uncle my father had - he was a Carpenter by trade and as a hobby he made my cousin Laraine a huge Doll House that opened up to reveal several rooms on three floors, he also a made bed for a small child with intricately carved headboard, fat spindle legs and it was even sprung for a mattress, which my parents did put on it - it housed all my bears and dolls when I was really little. He also made the most beautiful Rocking Horse that could hold two people comfortably, who I called Dobbin when I inherited it - my brother got him after me and now one of my other cousins has him and her two boys use him. When Uncle Will found out my Mam was pregnant with me he made a garage with a working ramp and imitation petrol pumps (my father was a car mechanic) - he thought my Mam was having a boy not a girl at the time!! Sadly, Uncle Will died just a few weeks before I was born, so I never got to meet him. You don't find anything with that sort of quality or sentiment these days which makes them even more precious Do you still have your Doll's House like you do the contents? Have fun here and speak soon, I hope Luv Anita xxx

Hi Denise ;D and welcome.
What a wonderful story, so lovely. I too have the dolls house my Grandpa built for me. I remember choosing all the finishes with him from the old catalogue he had for sheets of paper with wall papers on etc. He is no longer with us (17 years ago now) but I treasure the house. I also have the little catalogue I looked at with him all that time ago.
I hope you enjoy the forum! lots of sharing to be done with your photos. Will look forward to seeing them.
Becky xx
PS- Nita your wooden childrens items sound fabulous... any chance of piccies of those too?? xxxx

Sorry Becky My Mam passed the house and the bed on to younger members of the family when I hit my teens - she deemed I was too old for dolls by then, so no pics sorry Dobbin and the garage got passed on when my brother Nigel was about 10 - they went to my cousin Kay's daughter Stacey and son Stephen and it's Stacey's two small boys that have those items now - they've had a bit of a refurb in the last few years but she's never taken any pics Luv Anita xxx

Hello Denise. What an amazing Christmas present. My granddad made me a doll's house too, and my brother a castle. But we moved so many times I think my mum must have got rid of them at some stage. It is great that you still have your childhood treasures.
