Hi, my name is Candy and I am a new member to this forum but I expect a few of you will remember me from another sindy forum.
I have been collecting sindy for a few years now, it all started when I thought about what toys I loved as a child and of course sindy was my favourite! I had a ballerina and I used to play with her all the time, I loved her posing ankles and the fact she could bend anyway I wanted her too. I remember my mum taking me into a Tescos store and she would let me look round the toy section while she looked at clothes (it was safe to do in those days) and I would look at all the sindy clothes and wish I could have them all. One of my favourite outfits was the warm and cosy (yellow dressing gown and red/white stripy nightshirt and of course that duck sponge), I remember my mum saying I could have 1 outfit so I chose that! I loved it.
My mum and dad had split up when I was young and my dad was not in contact with me that much but when I was around 9 he said to my mum he would like to buy me some presents to make up for not seeing me - my mum told him I would like a sindy house and contents (I think she said it to see if he would buy it!) and guess what he did! I was over the moon and played with the house soooo much.
I grew out of sindys when I was around 12-13 years old (or at least thought I had) and regretably sold everything I had and it wasnt until I had my own daughter and she was into bratz that I thought about sindy and how different she was to these bratz dolls so I looked on ebay so see if there would be a sindy for sale and of course there were 100's, what started out as me only wanting 1 to remind me of my childhood turned into me owning around 400 dolls - my collection got way out of hand (as I think most sindy collectors will agree can happen), I had to sell alot of them and it was heartbreaking to do it but needs must at the time.
I then found out I was expecting a baby (I have a daughter who is 12) so you can imagine I never thought I would have any more children and due to this decided to sell alot more of my collection as I thought my interest had gone in sindy collecting. Well my little baby boy is now 7 months old and my sindy collecting is madder than ever! I am trying to control what I buy but there are so many things I love and want and wish I hadnt sold in the first place but hey ho we all learn by our mistakes.
I am gradually building up a good collection of items and searching for those little hard to find bits that seem to go missing with outfits. Although I grew up with the ballerina sindys, my favourites are of course, trendys! I love them - I dont know what it is about them but they are soooo gorgeous. I have quite a few of them now and every now and then will sell one to make some money to buy an outfit (or 2). I also love hard heads, shaping up, masquerade and starlight dolls. I would love to learn to reroot (I did try and the hank of hair got so knotted up I threw it away), but I know there are some very talented people out there so once I get enough money together I will get some of my girls rerooted.
Well I have rambled on and on like I normally do and must come to an end at some point, although when its talking about sindy I can never find a time to stop!!
Thank you for having me on this forum - I hope to get some very good tips, advice and meet some nice sindy friends.
