Hi, I'm new to this forum and the world of Sindy collecting though I have been a fan since I was young playing with friends and neighbours dolls. Being a male fan made things a little difficult however and I never had my own Sindy though I really wanted the house (Action Man just wasn't the same.)
Fast forward 25 years and on 13th of January this year I saw a vision in a charity shop window, the original 1981 Sindy home. I got it without thought, I imagined as I took it home that even though it was boxed something would be missing some small part but as I set a about building it (a time consumed task!) I was happily surpised to find it complete and undamaged! Now a month later I have almost completed the house with boxed furniture sets from ebay, I have a complete bathroom, kitchen, living room and bedroom & 4 lovely dolls. The only thing I need to complete the house is some rooftop furniture ie Patio or bbq. You'd think with my house almost completed I would be satisfied but I wanted more. A couple of days ago I came across a great auction for the 2nd edition Superhome and my interest was raised, when I read it I was delighted to see it came with several boxed furniture items all of which differed from mine and were of the correct time frame for house no2. So needless to say I hit buy it now quick and am expecting it in the post in a few days. I guess I am fast making up for lost time! I do love collecting Sindy though and look forward to chatting with other fans like myself.
All the best Nick x

:)Hi Nick
I know that feeling well being male and having been a child in the 70's having to love dolls through Sisters, friends and neighbours. I always wanted the Bionic Woman doll but got Bionic Man instead (not the same at all is it). I too had a Action Man and though he went climbling etc, he also had dinner parties ;D. What a find the 81 house in a charity shop. I started collecting Sindy 21 years ago having lived her through the 80's with my younger Sister to be then dismayed when she got to a young teen and sold most of her collection at a bootie. I bought the horse from a bootie and then had to have a rider and the rest is history. I thought what the hell i'm a grown man and if i want dolls i will have them and as many as i want. I have the 83 Superhome and my homemade 3 storey house and too many dolls to mention as i not only collect Sindy but also Barbies, toddler dolls, baby dolls, rag dolls, porcelian dolls, infact dolls galore. I'm a dollhollic.
Enjoy and welcome. Beware though collecting can become an addiction. I sometimes think why didn't i be a carefull selective collector then maybe i'd now be able to move around my flat easily. Oh well dolls have seen me through the highs and lows of life, i couldnt imagine life without them. I set my partner and his Mum off collecting dolls 4 years ago and their bungalow is full too.

Thanks for the nice reply guys, it's nice to know there are other male fans like myself. I have a number of different dolls other than Sindy, I loved growing up with the toys of the 70's & 80's and still do adore them. I had a large Star Wars and He-man collection but really wanted She-Ra and Golden Girl, I also loved Jem. Years later as a collector I was able to fulfil my childhood dream of owning these toys, and now I have a full set of boxed Jem dolls and some playsets and full collection of Golden Girl, I also had all the She-ra figures on card but sold them a couple of years ago. I know what you mean about collecting being addictive, i've thought of little else but Sindy this year so far and spend far too much time online lol. But its an enjoyable hobby and i like to buy and sell. I do prefer boxed or new toys and so far all my Sindy items are in their original boxes. I'll post some pics soon if you like once the new house comes. N xxx

Hi Nick, welcome to the forum and well done on finding a nice Sindy house especially in a charity shop - that's becoming increasingly rare, so well done.

Hi Nick and welcome. I enjoyed reading your story. If I had the room I would love to have invested in a Sindy house or two, but I live in a flat, so just don't have the room. I am already squashed in with with the dollies I do own! but I wouldn't part with any of them. Looking forward to chatting.

Welcome, Nick - I'd love to see some pics of the houses, if you get the chance! I'm pretty sure the patio sets come up faily often on e-bay, so you'll be even closer to completing that first dream home !!! Jim

Hi there Nick - welcome to the forum and thanks for your story, I always call myself a re-collector due to the amount of "re-collecting" I've done since adulthood! It's all mainly due to the evilbay place of course which is just incredible! I would also love to see your collection of boxed dolls as I only have one boxed and all the rest are sad old birds who generally need some love! I'm slowly working my way through them all, washing hair, revamping them and bringing them back to life! Hope you are having fun with your sindy addiction! Hope to chat soon- cheers Janee xx
