I am gutted. We have two ferrets,Molly and Lucy.Lucy has passed away and I don't know why.She was only one and appeared very healthy and happy only yesterday. When Paul went to feed them this morning,he found Lucy dead. I have never had ferrets before,so any clues would be greatly received. Also,do you think that we should get another ferret for Molly. She has always been with her sister and I don't want her to pine.

Dear AnnThank you for this. Will study in detail. It's just really odd. They were both fine yesterday.Mad as a box of frogs as usual!.The only difference today is that now Lucy has passed,Molly's glands have gone down. They were always very visible. She seems ok in herself, but has been with her sister since birth.I think I should get another,or maybe let Molly have babies herself. Thank you so much x

:)Aaawwhhh Fran so sorry to hear this too. Pets are very much part of a the family and its a distressing grievence when they pass. I wouldnt have any clues either as to why sorry. I used to have gerbils in a pair and one seemed fine one day and the next gone. I never did pair the remaining with another as read that they fight if put with another they have not been previously housed with. The remaining gerbil lived content for a further two years. I no longer have small rodent pets much as i adore them as their lifespans is short and i get so upset when they pass away. My staffie is nearly 12 now and lively and i hope she keeps going a good few more years. I met a 20 year old staffie still going a few weeks back.

:)Aaawwhhh hope Molly takes to the little ferrett chap. Mind you wont you be over-run then with ferrett babies (screams i want one) ;D.
I had a pet rat for 4 years that died a couple of years ago. My little Alexis. She used to explore around the sofa when i took her out of her cage and tickle me with her whiskers in my ear. I've still got her cage and wont part with it but i am being firm with myself and no more rodents.
I've seen ferrets on dog leads and they are adorable. I googled pics a while back and really wanted one but couldnt with my Staffie Tara around. Kevin also joked they would chew through my big dolls and bed down in their bellies. That settled it.

Awwww.Alexis sounds so sweetxI bet you miss her.I miss ours.Chuckie in particular used to travel to school in Pauls pocket when he used to pick the kids up from school. He loved the attention from the kids! I have tried to get a lead and harness to fit the ferret but think I will have to make one as she is quite small. OMG our dog Dolly[you can guess I named her can't you!]had a bad experience when she first met the ferrets.Dolly is a whippet cross and very, very friendly,if a little bit shivery[you know what whippets are like!].One of the ferrets bounded up to her and latched on to a nipple!I have never seen Dolly jump so high! Now she eyes Molly with caution!!
