Hi there
I am a new member, I have just purchased a Sindy and have been able to date her as Hasbro 1981-1985.
My reason for joining the site is to find out how much size difference there is between the various era's as I am making clothes from 1960's patterns with a 1980's doll.
Also does anyone know where I may be able to source further sewing patterns?
Many thanks

There are lots of sites which have links on here and which describe the dolls in detail, eg Petradolls, which may help, but when I have a bit more time I could take a 60s doll and a hasbro one and measure it. Which measurements do you want? I would expect the earlier dolls to be a bit chunkier but I might be wrong. In this case, its perhaps not much of a problem. Ebay is a good place for patterns, but many tend to assume that Sindy and Barbie can use the same patterns but their measurements are quite different.

Hi Thank you so much for your help. The measurements I need are as follows:
waist, hips, and leg length please.
I will check out the areas suggested as well. Out of all the measurements I think there may be a slight difference in the hip size as I think the earlier dolls may be slightly chunkier.
I also think I may have been a bit misleading in my introduction, sizing is not the only reason I joined the site, as I am now 50 and retired early due to bad health and have found myself reliving my childhood.
I had a sindy in the mid 60's with a bed and a wardrobe but was not allowed to have a patch. However via e-bay I have purchased a pristine patch and am having great fun. I am also considering being a more serious collector - but at the moment spending my time re-styling hair etc .
Thank you again for your post I truly appreciate your response
Diane

I sympathise about not being allowed the Patch. I wasnt allowed the bed and coveted my cousins! I have one now of course. I am also in search of a Patch, but they are getting so expensive. Im new to collecting too. I meant to just get a doll like my childhood one, but now I rescue anything and do its hair and dress it up!
Measurements which may be useful:
original 1963 Sindy Inside leg 5 1/4" Waist 4" Bust 4 3/4" Hips 5"
1994 Hasbro Sindy Inside leg 6" Waist 3 1/2" !!!! Bust 5"
What a difference! Sorry for using inches but I hate cms!
EDIT to add hips
Is it def a Hasbro doll you have?

Hi
Thank you so much for the info it is a great help, my Sindy has a raised box on her head with the word sindy in it and the numbers 033055x so I think I have dated her right.
I also hate cms so inches works for me lol
Thank you again
Di x

There are Sindy sewing / Knitting patterns on this site but all seem to be for pedigree, even the 80's patterns which I shall add a link to www.groovycart.co.uk/cart.php?c=89&p=5168P.S Welcome to The Sindy Forum! Jill x x x

Hello! hope you're doing ok finding your patterns?? I have a book somewhere that has patterns in that give different measurements for both Barbie and Sindy, I think it was a part of the Australian Women Weekly series. Good luck! xxx
