Hi from New Zealand! I have just begun collecting Sindy and Patch dolls and their gear, mostly 60's and early 70's after wanting to do so since age 6, in 1966! I turned 50 this week and deciced this year was a good one for making some dreams come true...it's never too late. I have been buying from ebay UK and Trademe NZ. I feel I have been quite lucky in finding some items already, icluding a mint conditon blonde 60's NZ "put together" doll wearing a complete set of "Sleepy time" from the same era.
Some items, however, are going to be beyond my reach and purse!
I would love to have a go at making Patch's Easter Parade items.
I would like to make them as repro as possible. Would anyone have the time to answer a few questions about this outfit, please?
I would like to know if the inside of the hat is lined, and if the brim is broderie anglaise fabric underneath. Is the small collar area of the dress white bias binding or a "fold over" of the same broderie anglaise?
I am a confident sewer because I had to sew and knit for myself because I never owned a true Sindy or her clothes!
I would be willing to try and help some one else in return. Perhaps I have something I can repro in return? I believe "sharing" is the key to many good things in life!
Thanks for reading and have a good day ....Sue X

Hi Sue and welcome. I love your attitude about making your childhood dreams come true - I hope you fulfil all you're after (and more)! I only started collecting Dolls at the end of last year and have been completely addicted since!
Can't help you with the sewing questions I'm afraid as I'm just learning to sew now, but I'm confident someone will soon be able to get back to you on that one! Look forward to chatting some more soon.
Susan x

Hello and Welcome Sue I have moved your post to the Sindy Collectors Introduction Section, which is where all collectors meet first before posting elsewhere on the site. The Social area is just for talking about things non-doll related such as birthdays and everyday stuff. I am sure you will find one or two people who collect this era of Sindy that will know about the outfit you are talking about and can probably help. Sadly, I don't have this outfit, so I am not able to help you at all with details or pics I do have two 60s Sindys and two Patch dolls though ;D Enjoy your time here, make loads of new friends and speak again soon Luv Anita xxx

Hi Sue, welcome to the group. Sorry I can't help with the Easter Parade outfit. I have never seen the real thing but I did make a knitted repro of this outfit.

I have both the dress and hat so should be able to answer you let me find a picture The hat is made of broderie anglaise and is lined with the same fabric with the holes of the top layer mainly against fabric from the one below. There is a seam edge turned inwards to stiffen it. The upper head part is made up of four parts. The head part is single layer kevin

Hi Sue and welcome. Nice to see a fellow kiwi here on the forum. Even though I have lived in Holland for the last 30 years I am still kiwi minded. Did you get the Sleepy Time Sindy a few weeks ago as I did see one on TradeMe about then? I will be going back in October for a high school reunion and have been looking at TradeMe as well. Have a brother in Auckland and will maybe have to get him to do some bidding for me. I still have my Tuppence doll of the 60's but alas she only has her bikini pants so I am also planning on doing her up and trying to make some clothes for her. Also have a Sindy and Paul from the 60's but no clothes. Do you remember the Mary Poppins doll? I am now attempting to copy that. Wish you all the best with your Patch. Kevin's photo's look absolutely great and she does look adorable. Hope it all works out for you. Bye, Trish
