Hello everyone, would like to introduce myself.
My name is Patricia and I live in Holland but am a born kiwi (New Zealander). My Sindy roots date back to the sixties .
My first Sindy is therefore one from around 1966 I think. Don't have her anymore as when my eldest daughter was little she pulled her head off. No internet and doll sites in the early 80's so in the end I threw her out. Now I notice that I should never have done that. Anyway I also have a Paul from that time frame and a Tuppence doll.
I did keep Sindy's weekender outfit but sadly do not have the trainers. Paul is also in his weekender outfit without shoes and Tuppence only has her original bikini pants.
Somewhere in the '90's I was at a flea market here in the town where I live and lo and behold I came across a '60's Sindy dressed in a selfmade two piece suit with spectacles. I just had to have her no matter what and of course bought her. She is a bit wobbly but I am glad that Paul has his girlfriend back. Since then I have caught the Sindy virus and have now quite a few Pedigree Sindy's from the '70's and '80's. Try to find original outfits or knit, crochet en sewing patterns to make my own. At the moment I am trying to copy the Mary Poppins outfit as I do remember the Sindy Mary Poppins in New Zealand. I did have her on my wish list for Xmas then but of course didn't get her so now I am trying to copy it.
I don't think I am that much of a fanatic as most of you. I am still a bit wary of buying things via internet so usually visit flea markets here in the neighbourhood and sometimes I get lucky. In August last year I came across a beautiful auburn '70's Sindy and a bag full of clothes for 5 euros!!!!!! A real bargain.
My next goal is to reroot a Sindy but still have to choose a victim from my 'collection'.
I am 51, housewife and mum of 3 grown up daughters who think I am absolutely crazy still playing with dolls. I don't care, I really enjoy it. Also work parttime in my husbands company so am still quite busy with housework and office work going to the gym and the inbetween time is reserved for Sindy.
Well, that's me, looking forward to 'meeting' you all and maybe we can be of some help to each other. Bye bye........
p.s. I do have some photo's of my so called creations and will try to post some if possible.
