I've just joined the forum and thought before i do any real lurking I'd introduce myself. My name is Sharie. I had my first Sindy back in the late 70's and early 80's (a gorgeous auburn haired Ballerina). My elder sister also had Sindys and together we amassed a nice collection of dolls, furniture, clothes and accessories. When I turned 14 mum said I was too old and sold the entire lot to my cousin for a tenner! (I still haven't recovered from the shock).
Ten years ago I bought a few Sindys and a Barbie secondhand as part of a craft course I was doing and 'did them up' in historic costumes. A couple got sold on (a smirking Sindy was one of them) and the rest were put away in a suitcase.
Anyhow a few days ago I found myself 'rescuing' a gorgeous dark blonde Sindy at the boot sale for 20p (and silly me left a blonde one behind for the simple fact she had had her hair cut -If I'd seen this forum before I'd have bought her and tried a reroot!)
So I decided to check how old my Sindys are and found this forum. Its made me think maybe I should put my Sindy tribe on display and made me doubly keen to rescue any Sindys I find lost at Boot Sales or in Charity shops.

Hi Sharie and welcome to the forum. I'm pretty new myself and this site has a wealth of knowledge in its members! Well done for finding Sindy's at the Boot Sale (especially for just 20p)! I'm new at collecting dolls too, though I managed to retrieve my two origional dolls from the attic and find it very addictive! I'm always on the hunt for those 'unwanted, unloved dolls' to rescue too, it's a rewarding feeling! Look forward to chatting some more! Susan

Hi Sharie!
Welcome to the forum! :)I know what you mean about parents persuading us to get rid of dolls, I gave mine to a neighbors daughters when I was 18 years-old because they liked playing with them when they came over to our house and my Dad said give them to them. And I agree with what some of the others said, it is addictive collecting Sindy and dolls in general, I bought a Sindy of ebay a few years ago and now i have loads of them! ;D But I think eBay is like that! ;)Look forward to seeing your dolls soon.
Luv natasha

Thanks for the welcome! That one Sindy I picked up idly at the car boot has spawned a whole new addiction..... Makes me wonder where will it end.
