Hi, my name's Susan, I'm 41 and live in Suffolk with my husband and two daughters aged 4 and 2 1/2.
I grew up with Sindy. Got an Active Sindy c.1974 and an Active Sindy a couple of years later. I always loved them and having got them down from my parents loft a few years ago, they're still in pretty good shape. I don't have a huge collection (yet), just two more 'vintage' Sindy's and an early Hasbro Sindy with very pretty eyes.
I'm also collecting other vintage dolls. I've recently aquired Velvet (Chrissy's cousin), a Dollikins Action Girl and a Dee Disco Girl doll which, together with several of my original childhood dolls and my brothers Action Men, makes quite a nice sized collection.
Think my husbands worried about my growing collection (I only started seriously collecting recently, but I'm totally hooked now) and space to store my collection is soon to become an issue, especially as I'm working on making a 'house' (or even two houses) for my girls to play with when they're a bit older (but they're not to touch Mummy's dolls I'm afraid)!
Oh well, I think the garage is due another clear out soon...I'll try and find some space out there!
Anyway, looking forward to seeing photo's of everyone's collections and sharing some of my own, and chatting to you all about dollies! It's like being a kid again!
Susan

Hi Susan and a very warm to the forum. I hope you'll enjoy chatting to other Sindy/doll collectors and find out lots of useful information. I only have a small collection and just concentrate on the 60s era. Space can become a bit of a problem but make sure you keep your dolls inside the house as damp can cause problems to the clothes. So you were born in 1968 which I consider to be one of the best years for Sindy with the fabulous sidepart doll and lots of [glow=red,2,300]groovy [/glow]new clothes. Speak soon Bronnie

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Am really enjoying the forum and already picking up lots of tips on restoration. Haven't really done any major restoration jobs yet but I'm sure I will one day. So far I've just given Action Man some new hands and re-strung Hasbro Sindy's legs (though in both cases more work is needed as they are still a bit loose). Hair, so far has NOT been my strong point! A basic wash and condition is about my limit. Me and needles don't seem to work together very well but I keep trying. Working on my newly acquired Disco Girl doll's hair just now as I think the previous owner washed it in some sort of menthol shampoo or something. A basic wash and condition hasn't removed the smell so far so I think a soak is needed. Perhaps she had nits !
