Hi everyone. My name is Emma and I'm from Australia. I had one Sindy doll as a little girl, which was so well loved that both her arms fell out, but I continued playing with her! At the start of this year, I decided it would be nice to replace that Sindy with one in its box (and both arms!). It was quite difficult because she doesn't seem to be a common doll (brunette 1983 Active Sindy with the white tutu and opaque tights), but I eventually achieved it thanks to eBay. I decided to also buy the outfits my doll had, which all sounds quite simple... But, as I'm sure you can appreciate, when searching eBay for something specific it's quite easy to get distracted. So, now I have about 20 Sindys, and a number of outfits and accessories. This is WAY more than I'd planned to get, so I'm now parting with some of them on eBay but it's difficult because they're just so darn sweet! (Which is why my mum bought me a Sindy doll initially - she was a sweet doll and she was available with brunette hair just like mine.) I am interested in learning more about the dolls and how to repair them, and looking forward to meeting all of you. I am trying to avoid buying anything else Sindy-related, but I still want Gayle, McDonald's Sindy and the Wall of Sound. Sigh!

Hi Emma
Welcome chick, Oh I think you have caught the bug. It spreads really quickly and I am afraid there is no cure. ;D ;D
Welcome and look forward to seeing some pics of your ladies.

Hi Em from sunny England!! That's an absolute joke as we've had a really wet and unsunny summer! I've been trying to dry my baby's nappies and have had to have our heating on in mid summer!! Sorry, I digress - you'll love the forum as there are lots of collectors on here that know lots about sindy. Also there are some good pages to visit regarding the fixing/repairing of sindy and the page that showcases the ooak and rerooted sindy's is fab. Have a good look around and go back through old posts to find lots of good info. Sindy collecting is like being a vampire - once you've been bitten - you've had it !! Chat soon - cheers Janee xx

Hello, Emma, from a fellow newbie. I've just seen your great Sindy photos on another thread and wanted to say hi I'd like a Sindy 'Wall of Sound', too, although it does seem to command a fairly high price - so am focusing on more modern dolls' furniture at the moment!

Heating in mid-summer Janee? That's crazy! That's something I've never experienced. I have been reading through the old threads - the OOAK dolls are fantastic. Hopefully one day we'll both have the Wall of Sound Liz! So much Sindy stuff is expensive, and when postage is added on for me it just gets really, really expensive - I can't remember exactly what it cost to ship the Action Kitchen to me from the UK, except that I was scared by the final amount! I haven't had much of a look at modern dolls' furniture, and I think I should keep it that way - I don't need something else to collect!

Hi Emma Welcome aboard I hope you settle in, make loads of new friends and enjoy your time with us. Once the dolly bug bites you're hooked for life and one doll becomes about 50 in no time at all!! Would love to know where in Oz you are located as we have a fellow collector on here called Lovesindy - Karen - who has recently emigrated to Brisbane from UK, so it would be good if you two got to know each other through chatting on here!! We do miss her as she hasn't been on here much of late and she has been doing some amazing re-roots herself Regarding your original Sindy, you could look for a TLC Sindy Active that still has very good arms and swap them onto your doll, making her like new again This is well worth considering as you then gain some spares that just might be of use as Swaps later on with someone else Never hesitiate to ask for advice here - everyone will be more than happy to pass on fantastic tips and stuff but most of all enjoy the laughter and friendships Luv Anita xxxx

Hi there Emma, Very warm welcome to this great Sindy forum. Have you bought any more Sindy's yet? Hee Hee! I started off the same. I was just going to get back the dolls and clothes that I had as a child in the 80's...nearly 3 years later I have well over 60 Sindys and their outfits from 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s & now, not to mention my Barbies & Bratz dolls!!! Hope to speak to you soon, Ineke xxx

Hi Emma, I too would love the Mcdonlds Sindy, I have managed to get the other two. Ive seen the wall of sound sell for as much as £60, but I managed to win one last year for £20. So you never know...
