I have a mouse in the kitchen !!! Kind of wants me to sing that song theres a rat in the kitchen what am i going to do !! i was cleaning up the kitchen and went into the cat food cupboard and saw the iams bag has a small chew on the bottom . ewwww and had a spack attack as i had thought of where else has it been and how long has it been there ? after poring the contents of the bleach and flash kitchen spray ( high off the fumes ! ) around the kitchen i calmed down . its a nightmare iv had to remove everything out of the cupboards and put them in the dishwasher and have had to wash some too . you can not believe that a little creature could cause so much trouble . i am going to leave my cat fred in there i know i sound cruel but what other choice do i have ? i could put a mouse trap or poison down but that would cause it more pain . its one of those days today ! and to top it off fred has left a mag pie (dead ) half sitting in the cat flap i have had to close the patio door and rich will have to remove it later when he gets home . fred is on a roll at the moment we had a hugmungus mole let outside the front yesterday . the joys of owning a cat !!!! does anyone else have these lovely cat tales ? or is my cat a schyco ??

What is it about pet food and mice; they seem to adore it!!! The exact same thing happened to my parents a few years back--I left a bag of dog food (dry) over at my parents house for when my dog sleeps over with them, and then a month or so later, my mom noticed the bag was torn into on one side, and half eaten thru. We figured out the little mouse was coming in through a small hole in the roof line of the house--once that was sealed up, my dad went out and got these cute little traps--I say cute because they do no harm to the mouse. They look like a teeter-totter with a trap door--you scoop out some peanut butter or cheese and leave it overnight in the back compartment of this little trap or mousehouse. The mouse smells it, goes inside, and his weight causes the thing to tip forward--a small door drops down and voila, the mouse is now inside and ready to be released outside (there are airholes to let it breathe)--and he has a snack while he waits!!! It worked out really well--they released it outside and well away from their home and it didn't come in again. I am not sure if they sell these traps where you are--I think they call it a humane mouse trap but I can't exactly remember! Maybe someone else will know--hope that helps somewhat! Best, Frances

Calm down Hannah its only a little mouse... ;D We had rats the other day !! They didn't come in the house... We had a Volvo delivered from a scrap yard to use for parts to repair another Volvo .. It had rats living in it ..OMG.. At night we have got a Rottweiler that keeps watch of the yard and other people's cars that are here for repair.. By the morning the dog had tried to take the car apart... I think the rats must have been terrified.. The mess on the car I think I would have been terrified if I was in it.. Lisa

Hannah, We have a cat who used to bring mice inside to play One escaped and lived with us for a while until we got desperate and bought a mouse trap - the poor little thing ended up in it within the hour I'm glad our cat doesn't bring the mice inside anymore We have another cat who catches pigeons and moles among other things. The worst cat we ever had was a ginger called Tom who opened doors - he even opened the fridge and helped himself to anything he fancied Rachel xx

Rachel that's so crazy! A cat getting into the fridge! Hannah you are so funny- spack attack indeed ;D I used to have 3 beautiful but mental cats only got 1 now. He-he i have 2 photo albums full of their pics! Years ago we used to be too soft and let them stay in the house all day and night if they wanted, while we were at work i used to set the timer on the central heating for them!!!![How sad am i?] When we got home there would be nowhere to sit because they would be sprawled out over 2 large sofas [expensive new sofa's which were wrecked from cat scratches] Cat hair EVERYWHERE litter tray a NIGHTMARE [contents kicked and trodden around the kitchen] cat food all over, remains of pet goldfish on the floor! tons of birds laying HALF dead in the garden if Phil wasn't home i had to get neighbours to come round and 'finish them off' poor poor things- that used to break my heart, all this happened on a daily basis- honest it did! They were all skitso- one minuite they would all cuddle up, the next they would be killing each other, i'm sure i had the 3 dirtiest, mischevious, lazy, nuts cats in the world. DID MY HEAD IN! I decided after 2 years of this that they were to stay outside in the day [got rid of catflap] and come in at night. 6 years later i had my little boy so i gave 2 of them away, the 1 cat i have left- 'Onslow' permanently lives outside now [leather sofa's] don't worry he has a heated shelter When this one passes NO MORE PETS FOR ME!! don't get me wrong i adore all animals but my mentalist cats have put me off! corr, waffled on a bit there didn't I? xxx xxx

iv brought one :0) thanks frances for the tip . i hope we can catch it a release it into the wild :0) when fred brings a half dead one to the door or dumps it in between the cat flap i always put it in a take away pot and stay with it till it dies or sometimes it recovers and i let it go into the golf corse behind the house. god do i sound sad ? i couldn't bare to think of the little creature dying alone . so fred is not going into the kitchen to kill it now i have a solution ! thanks girls . next week how to get rid of Bunions tee hee!!!! a trade mark my nan has left me aswell as big boobs !

So glad to have helped Hannah! I feel the same way about all animals--the nice thing about the humane trap is that you just wash it up and can reuse it again, should the need arise. But I really think you may just have a solo mouse there--if you didn't find tons of poop, then he's most likely coming to eat and going out again maybe through an opening. I know my dad cornered it in a 'closed' room--windows shut, doors shut, and he thought he could catch it--they are so amazingly flexible, the little guy virutually flattened himself out and squeezed thru the slots in the air vent on the floor--he was running between floors in the heating vents (we have central heating here, no radiators) and then out thru the attic and roof--I would never have believed he could squeeze thru an opening the size of a mail slot! The humane trap was the only way dad caught it, and with the right most alluring treat inside, the whole thing was settled in a day! Let us know how you make out with it (fingers crossed you can catch him and relocate him like you said!) Best Wishes, Frances
