My Dad had a semi feral black cat who was big but had a really weeding little tail and they called him Stanley after some ancient conductor/composer? called Stanley Black. They thought the tail looked like a conductors stick thing!! They then adopted a ginger tom kitten who used to bravely spit at not only us but the big black 'un as well. Dad wanted to call him spitfire cos of all the spitting and cos Dad remembers spitfires in the war. Eventually they chose Oliver for the ginger one so they became Stan and Ollie after Laurel and Hardy fame. Later they adopted a tabby kitten and named him Wilson after Wilson from Dad's Army!! xx
