Hello! My name is Michelle and I am 35. When Sindy was released in the US I had to have her - I remember also having the "Dinner Party" or "Night Spot" outfit, which I absolutely loved and wanted in a size to fit me I have a very vivid memory of making Sindy pick up a tiny folded piece of paper with her hand and my babysitter saying "Wow!" I loved how poseable Sindy was. I have been an eBay user since 1999 and every now and then I would look at the Sindy listings, to revisit my old friend but this year (maybe now that my oldest daughter is the age I was when Sindy hit the US) I feel the need to start fresh with the same doll I had then. I have a strong desire to collect the entire Marx line of Sindy stuff as it was in 78-79. Right now I have.... none. I am waiting for a good MIB Sindy to come along eBay and I hope to begin my collection soon. When I was 6 I wanted that Sindy furniture so badly! Now I hope to have it ;D Michelle p.s. is there a special topic for sewing/knitting / crafting for Sindy? p.p.s I have a lot of questions but rather than fill the board with my noob questions, I will wait for amazon to send me a copy of the History of Sindy book (right now it is out of stock)

Hi Michelle Welcome to this fantastic forum and hope you enjoy your time on here. Nice to have another member from overseas too. If you mean Colette Mansell's book it's often for sale on eBay, but then it may cost you a lot of postage. It's well worth having and you can learn such a lot from it. Luv Bronnie

Welcome Michelle, I'm looking forward to seeing a pic of your first (new) Sindy. Good idea to go (only) for the Marx collection. That way it can't get out of hand as it has with some of us I'm a big fan of the Marx Gayle doll. Have fun collecting Rachel

Have fun collecting Rachel LOL funny you say that because I have been looking *very* longingly at the Pedigree furniture! I prefer the UK bathroom to the US one, and the volume of fashions... it could get way out of hand! I dream of getting my hands on a Gayle, I just saw one (mint) go for $245. Sigh.

Hi Michelle - welcome to the forum - and good ole Sunny Britain (actually it's rainy and apparently about to snow!!) Firstly I think you should ask this forum as many questions as you like !! There are many very experienced collectors here and it's my guess that most of us already have the Collette Mansell book to refer to until you get your hands on one! This forum is friendly and helpful and there will be someone to help out with your questions !! There is a British website called The Magic Toybox who stock MIB Sindy stuff - and I have seen Marx things on there too including outfits and dolls. I'll check it later for you. (Don't know about postage etc to US.) There is a section which I love on this forum for OOAK Sindy's which if you don't know is dedicated to the revamp/restoration/rerooting/fantasy creations of all us crazy Sindy lovers and also includes things about homemade outfits/jewellery etc - have a look and go back through previous postings for amazing pictures of these dolls !! Hope to hear from you soon - Cheers Janee xx

PPS - I think most of us British Sindying ladies are all in love with the fine and rare Ms Gayle - so if you happen to come across an ole disused toyshop full of boxed (or unboxed) Gayle dolls let us know - you'll make yourself a fortune!! Some of us are even resorting to dying their white SIndy's black !! xx

Hi there! Welcome to the board! I see you live in Boston! My older brother used to live there and I have been there a couple of times to visit and it really is a beautiful city and area! I've been in the fall and the colors are amazing on the trees there! Anyway it's great you are re-discovering Sindy. I am also into knitting and sewing stuff for my dollies! I hope you enjoy the board and look forward to seeing your dolls! Luv Natasha
