Hi Has anyone been watching Lilies for the last two weeks? It's based on the life of the writer Heidi Thomas' family in the 1920 in LIVERPOOL. I am finding it truly fascinating so far - last week's episode was an lesson in how life was for so many people after WW1, when the one girl was caught sending white feathers to the brother of the family and a right cat-fight ensued!! It was last night's episode that was the real eye opener for me when Iris found out her brand new hubbie of so many hours had been injured far worse than she had been led to believe and it left her devastated as she wanted a family. Below is a pic of "Dadda" as he looks in real life!! Brian's only 42 in real life!! He first appeared in Rob Roy with Laim Neeson and was last seen as Billy Johnstone in Murphy's Law. Anita x

Well, this gets better and better!! ;D They aim to tackle lots of issues that were Taboo in those days but they've handled Billy and Nazzer's relationship very well. Luv Nita xx

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series on Friday nights ;D This current series ends tonight, but I think it will be back for a second series at some stage as so many issues will be left in mid-air otherwise! I've loved how the issues of the day were tackled genuinely and sensitively. More like this would be good viewing Luv Nita xx

Hi Anita
I started watching this properly at 3rd episode and have loved it as you can guess i'm a big fan of period dramas and also love to hear scoucers talk. I loved seeing the old terrace houses even if they probably where sets for the inside scenes. I was sad that they killed off the brothers lover after their night of passion, i was wanting them to have some sort of happy ending, not that there would have been in thos dark ages but i like things to go against convention. So glad she didnt give up her baby to those horrid rich snobs and that Dadda came around at the end. Yes little me had the handky out again as usual. He is an handsome chappie isnt he in reality (soz my darling Kevin, you know i only have eyes for you my preciousxx).
It was great viewing, another Friday night slot i shall miss.
Carl xx

I just hope we get a new series of this next year. I need to know if Ruby marries her pork butcher, if Mrs Brazendale survives her suicide attempt, if Frank finally woos May into marrying him, will Iris get her marriage to Domingo absolved, will the dishy priest realise he loves Iris and give up the church for her? Far too many loose ends left, we need another series to sort it all out.

I strongly agree with you there Yvonne There is definitely something on a deliciously slow boil with the Father Malacai Melia and Iris Mary Moss, that needs further investigation LMAO !! May deserves better than Richard Brazendale for a life partner, that's for sure. If she survives, his wife should to be put somewhere for her own safety, let alone May's and the baby's. Frank really does care about her and the baby and if she just thought about it for five minutes, she could get to love him too, plus he's much more dependable than Richard and far more noble!! I think Ruby's character has been brill throughout, especially when she realised just what her new friends were up to. When she ended up in court she gave a good account of herself. She's never waivered from her beliefs and I think she'll give the Pork Butcher a run for his money in the relationship stakes, should another series is commissioned! She'll be the boss in that relationship, for sure!! Even Dadda came around at the end, which is as it should be and I love that he decided that the little lad should be called Victor William and he registered him as a Moss - that said "Sorry" to May in more ways than one!! Carl, it was a shame that Nazzer had to die. Hopefully, if a second series is commissioned, we'll get to know more about Billy and perhaps he'll be given a new love interest from the Gentlemen's Club he works at. Luv Nita xx

Nita,
Have you looked at the BBC's POV messageboard? There is a huge long thread about Lillies. All the Mbders want a new series, apparently the BBC have still got all the street scenery. Mbders are hopeing that this means a new series will be commissioned.
I have every faith in the BBC, as last year they did a pilot show called Casualty 1906, it was such a huge hit a whole series has been commissioned.
Lets keep our fingers crossed.
Love Yvonne

Sounds encouraging Yvonne.
I am just hoping they dont get May with that slimey Richard anymore. No offence to the actor but he always seems to be in those horrid character roles. Yes get her settled with the lovely dependable Frank. Oh and Nita yes a nice fella from the club for Billy. They need me on the scripts.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, sadly I missed the first couple of episodes though. 'Ruby' was my favourite character, I recognized her from something else, but just cant place her.
