Hi everyone,
And thanks for letting me join the forum!
My name's Damian, I'm 32 and recently found some of my childhood Sindy's at my Grandparents house which made me search out a forum to help with guidance and hopefully with restoring them. My mum has a 60's Sindy (I think it's a 60's one anyway, with my very limited knowledge) and as a kid my mum and nan were always knitting and sewing costumes for dolls, for school fetes or the like. So, I always had dolls to play with until they had an outfit and were moved on to be sold. At some point I managed to permanently commandeer a couple of Sindys and had some at my parents and grandparents houses.
I've been collecting Vintage Action Men for a couple of years, as I also grew up with them at my grandparents during our Summer and Christmas vacations and built a forum for like minded collectors (http://actionmanmobileops.forumotion.co.uk/). As my Grandfather has just recently moved into care I decided to re-home the Action Men and Sindy dolls, as me and my boys have played with them at his house for years and didn't want them left with no one to play with them.
So here I am: 2 Sindy dolls at my house and possibly another 2 at my parents.... One of the Sindys (at my parents) I think is a Stardance Sindy as I remember the outfit, hoping you can help me get the two girls I've got looking great again.

Hi Damian, Welcome Aboard .... Have a good look around and familiarize yourself with the layout here as it's changed a bit in the last few months and it takes getting used to!! You can post about your VAMs in the Other Dolls section as I also have a few AMs and other military figures myself - pinched off my hubbie who has gone back to collecting Dr Who items instead.
You will find lots of information on Sindy, how to revitalize her etc; within the various sections but you will have to dig deep to find the AM stuff in Other Dolls!! Look forward to chatting with you on the boards Luv Anita xxx

Thanks Anita, I've been on an action man forum that's on pro boards and it has changed a little over the last couple of months like you say we've moved our forum around and before i settled on forumotion for our new home, we were on lefora. They've all got their quirks, but this forum looks great so well done to the admin team. You can see my action man collection on the action man forum Here, i did manage to get a Group Action Joe Jane (she's on the first page), so the action men had a girl on the team, and she's incredibly rare so a nice one to have. I don't want to post too much action man stuff as I'm here for my Sindy's and wouldn't want to distract for that, but if anyone wants to see them or wants to ask any questions feel free to ask - I've also got spares of bits too so may be able to help people if they have any VAM maybe in exchange for some Sindy clothes I was looking around before i was accepted as a member, and finding my feet so I'll try to keep up. Even though I've not even sorted out my girls, I've already bought a couple of outfits... Just to be prepared... Got an underwear outfit (as my nan always checked that all the dolls at her house had knickers on ) a nurse outfit so that my Sindy's can look after any wounded action men, and a coat with a headscarf... Although that does mean that one of them only has underwear and a coat, which doesn't sound very ladylike but I'll soon remedy that I'm sure

I'm a bit like your Nan then.... I like my girls to wear undies, especially under dresses or skirts.... I'm a bit fanatical about it but don't bother about it if they're wearing shorts or trousers (don't like adding too much bulk to the girls when they're in close fitting stuff). One of my friends made the Nurse outfit my Sindy is wearing (as my Avatar). It's a replica of a WW2 Royal Navy Naval Nurse outfit. I don't have all the pieces of the Pedigree Sindy Nurse outfit but I did as a kid.. Have had a look at your Forum AManfrom Coalville is a member here

The replica of a WW2 Royal Navy Naval Nurse outfit looks great Nita, and i had a look around and noticed that AManfromCoalville is a member here too, i think zulu2 might be the partner of zulu1 who collects action men too (it's a small world) . I've got the pedigree Sindy nurse outfit, and must upload pictures as the three girls are dressed now and looking a lot better. My doll collection has also rapidly expanded in the last couple of weeks, my mum found MY childhood sindy with the stardance outfit i remembered having, but she's seen better days as her leg mechanism seems to be broken so her legs come off, but she'll be fine . I also found more Sindy's at my grandparents house, and have a load of clothes I'll need some help identifying whether they're Sindy or not. Thanks for the welcome too Becky, glad to be here.

Look forward to seeing pics of your collection soon & to helping with IDs Zulu2 (Brigid) hasn't been on for quite a while . Tony - Zulu1 - bought one of my husband's AMs a few years back Brigid hails from Wales just like me!! Would be good to see her posting again, but think she & Tony have moved in the last year & have been pretty busy with that
