Hello and Welcome Maud Please share with us how you started collecting Sindy and/or other dolls, plus tell us just a little about yourself... we'd like to get to know you and officially welcome you to Sindy Online. If you have questions, I am sure there will be at least one of us that might be able to help you. I would suggest that you have a really good browse about all the different categories and read quite a few of the threads that have already been posted as there may be answers in those to some of the questions you might have. Reading the various threads will also give you an idea of how the Forum works All the best Anita xxx

This is a bit scary, hope I'm doing it in the right place! Thank you for the nice welcome. I can't claim to be much of a doll collector, I only have 3 old composite dolls, a tiny dolls house doll and somewhere in the loft my dolls from childhood. I remember playing with my friends Sindys as a girl and being very envious. I didn't have any myself, they were too expensive. My younger sister had some 6 yrs later but I wasn't really interested by that point. I have a vague memory of a damaged brunette Sindy and a new style Sindy which I wasn't keen on! My interest in Sindy has been revived now because of a Sindy foal I found in a charity shop last week. It's rather battered and missing its tail but I have a box of Sindy horses in our loft so it had to come home. My 6 yr Old daughter has been asking questions about who Sindy is so I had to do a bit of research and come up with some pictures for her. Then I thought it might be fun to have a Sindy again so I looked on eBay and bid on a few cheap ones only to get outbid. I have an eye on one so hopefully I will have one soon. I've always thought Sindy was better than Barbie!

Hello and welcome. I find looking on e-bay, I've learnt alot about Sindy, seeing what things go for helps find out what prices to pay, though of course they can vary. Some Sindy stuff can be picked up quite cheaply at the moment ;D I recomend the online "Sindy museum" which has lots of pics and info currently up to 1979. Hope you enjoy it here and have fun finding out about the Pedigree girl! Laurie

My daughter is unbothered by the lack of a tail but is completely convinced that the foal needs a rug! There was one on eBay but I didn't fancy paying £7 with postage for a small piece of yellow fabric after spending 50p on the foal! Probably not correct collector procedure but I reckon a piece of felt cut to shape will do the job for now!

I love it, Action Man still needs a womans touch, despite all the hard man armour and guns! I've got 5 brothers, I remember Action Man v Transformer wars!

Yes please B ;D Love some Action man kit. Regarding home made stuff Maud, I've found myself getting more and more into making stuff for Sindy and her home. I've just made a mini rug on a kids loom, It's pretty wonky but fun to do. Enjoy making your foal's rug Maud & have fun Sindying xxx

Good idea Sarah. A piece of felt is a lot cheaper . I have even copied some of Sindy's jumpers. Just love to knit and crochet and it's a great feeling if it all works out ok.
Good on you Laurie and Brigid, would be great to see some AMan sewing. Have a few patterns myself.

Hi Maud! Fantastic to "meet" you I agree with the girls, hand made can be great if you have the skills as some of the prices have gone crazy on the smallest things.

I'm not the best at sewing, it has to be said. My daughters bean bag is still in a bin liner because I haven't got round to sewing up the hole where the little balls are coming out! I think I am going to have to start though, I bought a few cheap clothes on eBay and the ones which do fit Sindy, need a bit of stitching. We now have 3 Sindys in the house. I bought a 99p blonde from eBay, and I wasn't expecting it to be in great nick a that price. It has a broken leg, tangled hair and a few chewed bits and missing fingers, oh and she was naked. What I didn't expect was that she would have no neck! It appears to be the wrong head on the wrong body so that the neck has disappeared up inside the head, it is a Sindy with a serious problem ! The seller gave me a refund when I contacted her, she said she wasn't familiar with Sindys and hadn't realised the problem. She said could I give Sindy a home, so she has now been adopted by my 6 yr old daughter because she feels sorry for her. She is now wearing a ballet outfit which doesn't fit and Barbie is giving barefoot dancing lessons because of a shoe shortage! They are all quite happy. We just need some underwear as none of the girls have any pants!

Poor Sindy, sounds like no-pants are the least of her problems, but looks like she has better times ahead!

No neck Sindy, poetically called dancing Sindy by my daughter, is currently sitting propped against an empty jar on the coffee table. She has been served a lunch of hairbands as pretend food on the jar lid, whilst we wait with bated breath the end of an eBay auction we are currently winning for a Sindy table and chairs set! I'd say no neck Sindy is onto a good thing!
