I hope I am in the correct place. I joined on behalf of my daughter and I last year. This site looked so interesting but Sindy has overtaken us. All of my grown up children have left home and the attic has become mine. So I decided to empty the eaves. Wow, transported back to the eighties. Sold all my son's toys. In the meantime the Superhome went up and the Sindys' went in, Oh dear, a box is missing, so I secretly started buying bits to replace broken and missing items. What have I done? What are you doing mum? Just getting it ready. Youngest daughter had sylvanian, that all sold. Time for Sindy, not just yet.... I then started to sell the items that I did not need. I could not believe the amount of things available and the amount of people wanting and needing Sindy items. We have ended up with an ebay shop! We have sold all over the world.... It has been so interesting and now are starting to sell on Groovycart. I have been so busy that I have not been able to tidy up my own Sindy. Met another Mum who has bought lots off me, she says they are for her granddaughter, oh yeah. I have got so many questions to ask. But for now I will have to stop as I can go a bit!

Hello, looks like you have been having fun! There is such a wave of nostalgia that comes with the rediscovery of Sindy, it then becomes so addictive. My sister and niece came to stay over Christmas, my sister thought I was a bit mad with my new Hobbie, but she joined in and took over dressing the girls, I am getting her one for her birthday next month!

It is amazing It must be the eyes that are hypnotising. We are Find-Your-Lost-Toys on ebay. Please do not be too hard when you see the price of the room divider. I-fancy-this bought one from me for £18 free p&p and sold it for £42.99! There is not much left on ebay and most things are going over to Sindy dolls clothes, furniture on groovycart and will be cheaper. I am still adding to our house, I have a bedroom extention with a balcony that I want to add to it, but I have got to sit on my hands and not take it out of the box. Laura is going to take it to her house!!

Good Luck with you business but i'm afraid everything is out of my price range as collecting for me is about "the find" which includes getting items at a good price.
I am sorry if that sounds rude, i really don't mean it to. I have had a long term illness for the past 2 years and am on a fixed income.
Prices seem to have hiked up recently and its pretty disheartening, but like i said...good luck
Regards

Thank you. We are always open to offers and will have a bargain basement for items that are incomplete. It is a minefield, the wrong people are getting the bargains.
You are not being rude we appreciate your honesty. We are happy for anyone to give us advice on prices. We have a quite a few complete outfits mainly 83-85 that we want to sell on. I notice that some offer just one part of an outfit, is that the way to do it?

Oh i'm def the wrong person to ask advice on selling, there are lots of lovely sellers on here that are far more qualified than me to give that sort of advice. I have sold one or two unwanted or doubled items but generally i can't part with anything i buy. Poppy x

Hi Laura, welcome to the forum. I'm glad you have found a passion for Sindy, an identical thing happened to me when I started collecting. I bought for my goddaughters and ended up hooked myself.
I understand that the buyer 'Ifancythis' is hoovering up all sindy items and then selling them on at inflated prices. I think your wall unit complete with free p&p seems a good price. Re the outfits, obviously by the 1980s there were huge ranges of clothing produced every year so many of the outfits are fairly easy to come by and don't command really high prices like the 70s clothing. Some sellers do split up outfits and sell items separately as it is more profitable to do so, though it breaks my heart to see an outfit split after all the years. Others will list lots and put a half an outfit in each lot in the hope that both lots will then sell so the buyer can get one complete outfit. I'm really bad at selling for profit as I am too emotionally attached to it all.
Good luck with your shop.

You have made up my mind, I am going to keep the complete outfits, it will break me to split them. We will sell the odd bits, if we put them on at too high a price, please shout at us.
Still can not get the photos to work. Will keep at it.
Wall unit is fabulous, will not fit in our house.
I loved playing with my dolls when I was little and then when my girls were growing up. I also played heman, star com ghostbusters. I wonder if there is such a thing as a little girl gene, I am definitely in my third childhood.

I agree with what has been said - If I sell on doubles, I tend to sell complete or near complete outfits. I don't like to see bits of this and that all broken up into lots as Scotty says.
I'd definitely keep hold of them for now, if they're complete, you may regret selling on if they have all the bits and pieces, little belts etc; can be hard to find.

Sorry laurajill I'd over looked this thread and neglected to give you a welcome. Good luck with your ebay selling. I hate selling, i meet lots of weirdos - I think I have an attractant on my listings. Saying that I have had some lovely buyers and interesting conversations but I don't think I could summon up the courage to sell regularly. I'm one of those who appreciate a bargain. The thrill of the chase is often much better than fulfillment with me and that goes for bargain hunting in general and not just Sindy. Champagne taste and beer money thats me.

Welcome aboard Jill I gather that the Laura part of your name is your daughter's! Do have a good look around - when you are new to Forums or the layout of a Forum it can be a minefield to New Members, so if you aren't sure where to post something, give me a shout and I'll point you in the right direction and if you post somewhere and it's not related to that section, I can always go in and move it to where it should be... you'll get the hang of it once you've been on here a while and it will be like second nature in no time. If pics are too big and distort the Forum I usually go in and remove them and ask the poster to edit their post and insert smaller pics. Sorry to hear that you too have been "stung" by a "certain" seller.... she really is greedy and has got a few of our members backs up with her buying and selling tactics - Sindy stuff is expensive enough already for some eras. Sindy is very addictive second time around - I think it's the nostalgia at first that calls to you, then it's about the remembered enjoyment of dolls which keeps you hooked Enjoy your time with us Anita xxx
