Well- my rerooting has gone downhill as there seem to have been quite a few good TV Series on since the New Year. I watched all of Eternal Law and really enjoyed it (although I was a little sceptical when I first saw the ads for it) Did anyone else watch it? Really hoping it gets comissioned for another series. Also enjoyed a new one on 4 called New Girl- it's sort of a Scrubs type of humour series, that's still going. Well worth a look, one of those that you can watch one here and there without having to watch the whole thing. I've fallen totally in love with Call The Midwife (Sundays BBC 1 8pm) and can't believe it's the last of the series this week!! I adore 50s vintage and 40s stuff, this is just fab. I have an old Marmet Coach Pram in the porch that I bought for £30 ages ago, and the prams in this series are so similar to it!! just love them. Hustle finishes on Friday, that's been fab as ever, but it's the last EVER episode this week. Everything seems to be finishing!! Finally have got quite into Prisoners Wives, that has been good. The series is about a group of prisoners wives, but has a focus on a different one everyweek. Looking forward to Alcatraz starting on Watch in March, apparently it's meant to be similar to "Lost" if anyone else was a fan. Being a bit of a Gleek looking foward to that too in March!!!! Tried out the new Fantasy Crime Drama programme Grimm on Monday gone, that was good, only the 1st one last week, so time to catch up with it. Basically the featured cop is one of the last of the Grimms (as in the Grimm Fairytales) and the original fairy stories turn out not to be stories but warnings about the creatures (that still exist) and how their behaviours lead to them comitting crimes. Sounds odd, but was ok to watch. It's certainly helping to pass on the dark nights. Will have to get to rerooting in the spring and summer when I tend to sit in the garden to do them! x x x

I've watched the Big Bang Theory a few times and sometimes I like it and find it funny and other times I don't.
Haven't seen Call The Midwife but I read the book earlier in the year and really enjoyed it. Also read one called A Light in the Window also about the same time and that was about a midwife working at one of the notorious Magdalen homes. It was a horrible book- felt like going out beating nuns up afterwards after I read of their cruelty.( They wouldn't give unmarried mothers in labour any aneasthetic or stitches and treated them like animals). Made me a bit nervous about reading Call The Midwife but that book (and nuns) were totally different.
I noticed Upstairs Downstairs is on again on Sunday night. Going to be watching that.

I have specific progs I watch religiously too... Looking forward to the new adaptation of Titanic when it comes out. Downton Abbey is a must as is Upstairs, Downstairs. Have also been loving Call The Midwife.... did anyone see the other series called Lillies that Heidi Thomas did about a Liverpudlian family of sisters? That was brill and I really thought it should have had another series Steve is taping that Grimm for us to watch.
Blue Bloods is also back on Atlantic which I am really pleased about. I really enjoy the back story about a family that has three generations of Law Enforcement (with Irish origins) as a work ethic in their background.....
Friday night is Naval Criminal Intelligence Service night on FX for both Steve and myself... Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Abbie Sciuto are fave characters of this series as is "Ducky" The Pathologist played by David McCallum of Man from U.N.C.L.E fame. Friday nights are not the same when a current series of that series is not on. Steve usually likes all the Vampire stuff but True Blood has never appealed for some reason, same as Burn Notice failed to appeal
Sunday is also the time of the week we use the Sky+ record facilities most as Hawaii Five-0 is on and straight after it is NCIS: Los Angeles.

Oh yes!! NCIS is one of our faves too. We sky plus it though and watch it on a Saturday.... Ahhhhh Gibbs.... LOL!!! What a man! ;D Downton is fab isn't it, they're apparently filming season 3 right now. Can't wait for Upstairs Downstairs. I'd totally forgotten about the Titanic series! Glad you mentioned that! Never seen True Blood. Do you recommend it then? I'll have to try and catch it. I didn't know that about the Nuns Sharie- knew that it was fairly brutal but didn't realise quite how they treated unmarried mothers The last of Hustle tonight- apparently they all get killed off!! Grimm was very good Definitely worth a try xx

I don't watch a lot of tele, but am hooked on call the midwife. I read all the books and was interested to see how they managed the series as a lot of the tales are about people's experiences or fears of the workhouse which features very heavily. They aren't showing that part, but are managing to convey the fear of it. Very barbaric given it was the 1950s - a time supposedly of postwar wealth.
I'm mad for Hustle but have managed to miss most of the series episodes this time. I did catch tonight's finale.
Looking forward to Upstairs Downstairs on Sunday and yes Anita, I was a fan of Lillies too and was surprised it didn't continue after the first series.

Hi Debbie Regarding Lilies there was definitely more to tell there but according to some information I managed to get hold of the second series didn't get commissioned "due to lower than expected ratings". How sad is that!! The actual story was based loosely on the lives of Heidi Thomas' family - namely her grandmother and her Grandmother's three sisters in 1920s Liverpool. Some aspects such as the "Grave Fund" are true facts. BTW The actor who played Richard Brazendale in Lilies - Stephen Moyer - plays Bill Compton in True Blood! A xxx

I'm waiting eagerly for Downton Abbey to return. That's the show I love the most on TV just now.
Sherlock was absolutely fantastic in the new year. The last episode was perfection.
I'm going to try Grimm, and I very much enjoy Fringe. One show which doesn't seem to be shown here in the UK is Once Upon a Time, which thanks to my American friend, I've been watching. It's lovely! Robert Carlyle stars as Rumpelstiltskin, and his alternate persona, Mr. Gold. He steals the show for me. I hope some channel picks it up over here.

Watched the second Grimm- I think it's a new favourite. After getting so excited about my love of new tv series, the sky box froze last week and had to have a total reset! everything in the planner was lost in the mean time, so I never did get to see the last ever Hustle....

Grimm is really good. I'm enjoying it.
I fancied Whitechapel but was told it was too hard to pick up if you hadn't watched the other episodes. Is it the sort of thing you can just dip into? xx

The only prob I can see is that they are two parters. But otherwise they are ace!I love the way they have a police historian linking present day crimes to past crimes.
