I only ever had one Pippa when I was younger.I think when it came down to it,I just wanted extra Sindy when given the choice! Now though, the more I look into Pippa the more I want some!As they are only little, family wouldn't grumble about them taking up room! There is just something about Pippa's fashions, they are so out there!

Hmmmm, I don't know very much about Pippa. I didn't have any as a child. I'm not too sure, I haven't looked at her in much detail. I strangely started having a hankering to collect Barbie last night! I was looking up all the 80s ones I remember as a child. May just collect the clothes and dress the gorgeous Sindy in them! Have you still got the Pippa you had when you were young? xx

lol,no,I think she got buried in the garden by my little bruv. When I get around to tackling my jungle of a garden I might find her! I know nothing about Pippa but stumbled across an ace site last night with loads of info and pics and was taken with the fashions. They are mad! I really like the first Barbies and bought one of the repros that came out.I also love the avon ones, spesh the red haired winter splendor I think she is called, who comes in a red and black dress.Just stunning.I also love the international Barbies.I love the Irish dancer, she is my fav.I must admit that these are some of the fav dolls in my collection. As a rule though,I don't like Barbie!Saying that,I have got one of my Sindys in Barbie's champagne coloured winter ensemble. It really suits her!

Hi Becky I never had Barbie as a kid but when I started collecting again as an adult, I went rather overboard on her I would suggest just getting a few you like the look of - the Special Edition Christmas ones are really lovely - BUT - I would also say get one or two Silkstones for sure - they are quite heavy due to whatever materials they used to make the body and head from. Also, some of Silkstone are more striking than others - it really does depend on the colour of the hair and the outfit. Pippa wasn't one I had as a kid either but I think now they would be lost among the bigger girls I collect (such a pity really)

I had a few Pippa's as a child, Pippa, Marie and Britt. I have bid on a few when I started with Sindy but they seem to go for more money than I am prepared to pay. She is quite tiny, I never made clothes for her as I did with Sindy, it would have been sooo fiddly. I was never a fan if Barbie as a child, I never thought she was beautiful, but I have been window shopping and am thinking if getting an early one, or a repro, but I haven't been compelled to push the bid button yet. Though I have been buying some clothes, and the vintage stuff is really beautifully made. They seem to go for a price bracket above Sindy though. I will take a few photos of my Sindys in Barbie clothes soon. Bx

Thanks for that Anita. I'll have a look into them.
I have one of the Avon christmas specials, nothing special as such but very pretty (she is in a box in the cellar or she'd be photographed for the thread!)
I had 2 Barbies as a child. One was Fashion Jeans Barbie 1981. She was my first ever and only one for years. She had a pink jumper on, pink boots and a pair of jeans. I still have the jeans up stairs. Strangely, for a girl that LOVED Sindy, I chose a lot of Barbie outfits when I was taken to choose an outfit to buy for a birthday etc.
The other was the last doll I ever got as a child- Benetton Barbie. I asked for her specifically for christmas, I think it was 1992. I was 13, and didn't care that everyone thought I was uncool at school, I thought she was lovely. I still have her, dressed to this day. Just missing her shoes.
I would really like to get hold of a nice Barbie of each of the ones I drooled over as a little girl. Peaches n Cream, Dream Glo, Loving You, Twirly Curls, Dream Date and Day to Night. My friend had loads of Barbies and I really liked them, but I couldn't have both Barbie and Sindy, and chose Sindy every time I was asked.
On the look out for the outfits now, even if I can't get the dolls themselves, could start with bog standard 80s Barbies and dress them in the outfits. I have just one 80s Barbie that wasn't mine as a child,(other than the Christmas one) she needs a reroot, might get her sorted.
Ooooo- now I want them even more!!! Are there any particular favourites out the ones that you got when you started collecting that you think are nice? x x x x x

Yes,my lil brother was[and still is!]a tyrant! He even threw my brother's Hornby Intercity out the window[upstairs]The resulting scrap is a memory burnt deep in my brain! And I was uncool for still being into Sindy whilst at secondary school. It hurt a lot when I finally got rid of my collection[bar the spesh ones I kept]but as you know,at least I got some back! I actually wouldn't mind getting the Barbie who wore a pink office suit that changed to evening wear....ebay here I come!

I still played with my MLP's until I was 15. I already was the uncool kid, so I didn't really care.
I wanted that barbie too!

The Pippa girl's features are so delicate! I had Mandy and Pippa as a kid, I'd love Mandy again! I've got a few Pippa and friends though from charity shops and a solitary Dawn. They really are very pretty. I'm with you on the outfits too, they're ace!! Lovely pic of your Dawns Lisa!
