What do you think Sindy's favorite musical is?
Guys and Dolls? ;D
That's one of my favourites, and I really like the film, as well. Then there's Chicago, West Side Story, Oklahoma, South Pacific is a belter, as well!
I was going to say that I'm not really that into musicals!!! But these are just for starters!! Sound of music, anyone? Hang on... Oliver! That's a corker!

Hairspray - live with Michael Ball as Edna Turnblad and Les Dennis as Wilbur Turnblad has to be seen to be believed. An excellent few hours spent in the theatre. Rocky Horror is great. Tim Curry was hilarious in the role of Frank N Furter in the original film version but Anthony Head didn't do badly in the stage version either Filmwise it has to be SOM, then My Fair Lady for me. Mustn't forget some of the later ones such as Saturday Night Fever, Dirty Dancing and Footloose. Axxx

I had forgotten about Rock Horror, I saw the stage show recently at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury. It was a great show, the theatre is brand new, lots of glass and wood.
I can see Sindy playing Sandy in Grease but I don't think paul is cool enough to play...what's his name..Danny?

Ha, great thread.
Not really into musicals myself. Here in Holland they do dutch versions of all the big musicals and I find it strange to hear all the great songs done in dutch. Just doesn't sound right to me.
I like the musical films and remember going to the Sound of Music with school as a child and of course to Oliver. But that was way back into last century................................ Also Jesus Christ Superstar, have the lp of that one and of course Dirty Dancing, Grease etc etc.
Jill, hope you enjoy the musical in August.
And yes, Sindy would make a great Sandra Dee but I think the Hasbro Paul would make a better Danny.

Hi Patricia, Thanks for your comment. I hadn't really thought about musicals being in different languages, that would be strange. I went to see Billy Elliot last night for the second time. It is a great show I would recommend. My daughter is rehearsing for a Billy youth production at the moment www.billyyouththeatre.com/She only has a chorus part but hey ho! Jill x

Yes Jill, it is very strange. Musicals are really big over here as well but as I said they don't really do anything for me with the songs being in dutch. It's just as bad as watching an American or English film on the German channels. They syncronise the voices so that the actors are speaking German. Then you see e.g. George Clooney (drool) speaking German Great opportunity for your daughter. You never know what that might lead up to..............................Maybe a hidden talent? xxx

Oooow Becky, what a star! Talking of Little shop of horrors......My daughter is in a local production of this. Opening night 31st March then 1st 2nd 3rd of April if anyone lives close to Hemel Hempstead which I am sure no one does. www.boxmoorplayhouse.co.uk/Everything that I have seen here has been really professional My daughters first part with the boxmoor playhouse theatre was playing Ngana in South Pacific when she was 12, she is now nearly 15. This is her in rehearsals with the other Ngana, my daughter is the one WITHOUT the dodgy wig. Due to the number of performances they had to have more than one Ngana to share the performances as sometimes there were 2 in one day. www.southp.hemelhempsteadtheatrecompany.co.uk/dsc_0016.htmlAnd Seussical the musical from the year before last www.boxmoorplayhouse.co.uk/seussical/seussicaldressrehearsal034.htmlShe is the girl in the middle.

I reckon Sindy would be terrific in the lead of Legally Blonde. The main character's pretty, smart and wears fabulous clothes - perfect !
I was lucky enough to see one of my favourite actors - Denis Lawson - in La Cage Aux Folles a couple of years back. That's a terrific show, and all the better for having Denis in it. I loved another musical he did years ago, called Lust. It was based on a Restoration comedy; Denis played a charming womanizer and had his trousers pulled down so the audience got a splendid view of his pert, naked bottom. I saw that show 4 times...

I haven't seen either of those, I will have to add to my list.
Went to see my daughter in a local production of Little shop of horrors last night. All went well. I am now waiting up for her as she has gone for a curry after the show. I am so tired I could do with an early night.
