can see it now. There are little bends in the stickers that suggest they may have been taken off at some point. I wonder if the red is the colour of the plastic and the yellow layer has been taken off at some point??? or whether its been sprayed??? no idea I'm baffled!!! xxx

Without seeing it, it's hard to tell if it has been sprayed. It doesn't look like it - and believe me, I spend half my life spray painting dolls....It's very hard to get a completely even coverage, without any drips or marks. ( Took me over 200 dolls to get it right, and even now I can make mistakes!) Has the paint chipped anywhere? If it had been sprayed, it probably would have somewhere over the years.

I have been doing some searching as well. Johnny's site has a lot of Sindy stuff on it but no red buggy. It certainly looks the same as the yellow one only it misses the aerial. Even the stickers seem to be the same.
This really is a mystery. Maybe a good one for the Sindy museum. Maybe they might be able to find something out for you Fay.
Good luck and we shall keep trying.

Came across this on the site of the link below. No mention of a red buggy. There is a photo of the white one on this page. I couldn't copy it onto here. Sorry. www.angelfire.com/80s/sindy/page18.htmlYou might have to copy the link to the browser bar. 1975 A buggy was introduced for Sindy this year. The open yellow buggy could seat two dolls and came complete with a royal blue tent. The headlights, dashboard, brake lights and seat covers were made from stickers. The registration of this car was ‘SINDY 1’. 1985 The yellow Sindy buggy was changed to become Sindy’s Fun Buggy. The buggy was now in white with blue and yellow stickers and came with a surfboard and wetsuit. The Range Rover 1985 The yellow Sindy buggy was changed to become Sindy’s Fun Buggy. The buggy was now in white with blue and yellow stickers and came with a surfboard and wetsuit.

I wonder if it was made at the end of Pedigrees reign before they sold out to Hsbro? I'm just thinking about the horses (the palomino and dun with solid necks) that were made around then but are impossible to find reference to.....

I've never come across a red fun buggy before. There are yellow and white ones but no red as far as I know. Looks like you may have something unusual there. It's definitely the right style and stickers to be a 1980s Sindy fun buggy - maybe it was a prototype.

Welcome to the forum, Fay.
Your buggy was pictured in one of the mail order catalogues of 1984 / 1985. I've seen pics, I think the catalogue was Marshall Ward (not 100% sure).
It is possible this buggy was a catalogue exclusive.

I've only ever seen a few for sale on ebay, seeing many more of the yellow version in the same period of time. It's a really nice variant on the yellow version, isn't it? I think I prefer it. Was it a find or a childhood item, Fay?

Hi Fay,
hope you had a good few days.
I'm sure someone would snap your hands off! You could try putting a notice on the forum on the wanted swap and sell section, or you could try listing it on ebay. I'm positive it'd sell on one or the other.
Good luck with what ever you decide to do with it! ;D xxx

The red version of the Sindy buggy was issued around 1985, together with the red camping trailer, as a single item, as a mail-order catalogue special (eg Littlewoods, Grattan etc). Don't actually have it NRFB in our collection, so I can't offer particular provenance on this, but that's what I understand to be correct. So it's literally inbetween the standard yellow buggy and the white surf version.
