Hello everyone, I have just joined this group and would like to say Hi. In 1988 I bought my first Sindy doll and have continued to collect her together with Patch and Paul over the past 20 years. Sindy was not one of my childhood dolls, she actually came on the market just one year before my son was born. I also have a daughter two years younger than my son but she wasn't into Sindy or Barbie dolls, she loved baby dolls. Over the past year I have sold a few Sindy's and bought a few but the last count there was around 250 of her. Just did a head count of Patch and there are 40 of her and I also have 14 Pauls. It has all got out of control I am afraid. If there is anyone on this group that went to the Sindy weekend at Bournemouth this year I was there too. I live in Western Australia, so it was a long way to go for a Sindy get together, but I did so enjoy it. In general I loved England so much I wish I could live there. If you haven't worked it out already I am 68 years old and as I have had to learn everything about Sindy from the History of Sindy book it has been a bit hard for me to I.D. certain Sindy dolls. I have a lot of 60's Sindy's, not many centreparts and sideparts, quite a few 2GEN and quite a few of the 80's ones, but I only collect Pedigree Sindy from 1963 to 1986. I also have a Gayle and a Betsy. I guess you have heard enough about me, so I will finish off now. Eileen

Hi there Ineke, I spotted your name on this group. How are you too?. Someone asked me once how many dolls I had so I did a room by room count and came up with just over 600. I gave myself a fright so decided that some must go. I started selling off my big dolls and thought I would work my way down to the little ones including some Sindy's. It is hard though. I sold 3 x 21" Pedigree hard plastic walker dolls but then I bought another one, was given yet another and just a few weeks ago bought another one, so I am hopeless. The 3 I sold have now been replaced. 600 sounds like a lot of dolls but a couple of my friends have over 4000 each so I don't feel so bad. Eileen

Hi Anita & Bronnie, Thank you for your welcome. Being an old girl I am a bit slow with some of this modern technology, but if you go and look at www.flickr.com/photos/funtime1973/sets/you should be able to see my Patch and Paul dolls as well as a few others. I really need to update my Patch photos as I have completed some of the outfits as well as adding a few. Eileen

Hi Liz, Thank you for your welcome. Well I have the same name as your Grandmother and you have my nickname. My Mum, Dad & brother called me Liz for years but as I only have my brother left now he seems to have gone back to calling me Eileen. I see where you love the 2GEN Sindy dolls. Well I am sorry to say but the 2GEN are my least favourite and will probably be the first to go when I start selling. I like a few of the outfits so will just keep enough for that reason. I lost a lot of my photos when I transferred to Flickr and I am a bit sorry now that I moved over. Still I suppose one day I will get around to taking more photos. It just takes up so much time. Eileen

Hi Eileen, Welcome. I am a fellow Aussie from Victoria. Your photos are very beautiful especially those trendy girls. I am a pre 2nd Gen pedigree Sindy fan, and have been collecting for only a few months. WOW, 250 Sindys. Your collection must be so amazing. How do you store/display them? Do you find the WA heat has an effect on them. It is extremely hot where I live during the summer and I am worried about how to look after them - especially their hair. xx Pauline

Hi Pauline, I have a whole bedroom that is just Sindy as well as a small cabinet with other dolls in. I keep the room dark with blinds closed and as far as the hot weather goes I have ducted air conditioning throughout the house although there is not a duct in the Sindy room. If I think it is a bit too hot I open the door so the cool air can drift in. It doesn't seem to be a problem. Today was either 37.4 or 38.4 (not sure) so that was our first really hot taste to remind us what to look forward to. (just joking as I hate the hot weather). Where in Vic are you?. I am going over there on 6 Feb until 24 Feb. Going to Horsham, Castlemaine, Ballarat and then into Melbourne to go to the Abbingdon Doll Auction on Sunday 22nd then home to Perth. Eileen

Hi Zoe, I did get an email from Flickr to say beaniebanks had put me as a contact. That is OK with me. I don't fully understand how Flickr works. I haven't got any of my 60's Sindy photos there as they seemed to get lost in the transfer and as they are over 5 years old I really should do some more, but it is such a big job. I will have to go in and read how to put a pic on here. Eileen
