Hi Everyone My name is Sue and I first started collecting Sindy in the late 60s I guess. ( I was born in 1964). I never really had that much Sindy stuff back then because I grew up in a household that had to be run on a v tight budget but I had enough to fill my childhood with many happy hours of playing. I learnt to sew and knit to provide my Sindys with clothes and does anybody out there remember making the Sindy rooms as shown on Blue Peter? Go on some of you must have made chairs from those yoghurt pots with little pedestal base and plant pots out of toothpaste caps. Not to mention glueing matchboxes together to make a chest of drawers. My original Sindys will have been lost years ago but I started to collect Sindy from late 60s to mid 70s a couple of years ago but this is so popular that prices are rising on ebay so I thought I would buy some girls in need of help and I am part way through my first reroot. I feel fortunate to have been approved to join you talented ladies and gents on this forum. Prepare for lots of questions as I continue my first reroot! Sue xx

Hi Sue A warm welcome to this friendly forum. I really enjoyed reading your introduction because it brought back a rush of happy memories for me. I too recall making Sindy chairs from yoghurt pots and covering them with 70s orange and yellow swirly paper with orange padded seats!! Oh yes, and matchbox furniture!! I also collect 60s Sindys and have done 3 reroots now. Look forward to hearing more from you. Luv Bronnie xx

Hi Sue, Good to meet you. I used to enjoy making furniture from all sorts of rubbish. I don't remember the blue Peter stuff but I wasn't much a fan of BP. I too didn't have all the lovely fashions etc for Sindy. I had to make do with items my mums friends had knitted. I don't know what happened to my very first Sindy she was a 1960's hand-me-down with a broken neck that had been tied back on with ribbon or string or something. I did get my first NEW Sindy a few years later probably 1973 or 74. I still have her. Jill X X

Hi Sue
Welcome to the forum, you will adore it here we are a really happy family.
I am sure your doing just fine with your reroot and don't forget to post some pics of her. I was very lucky in fact spoilt as a child and had all the sindy furniture. But I love making things now and I think handmade is better!

Hi Sue, welcome... The blue peter furniture took me back, in fact, I've still got a chest of drawers that an Auntie made for me when I was around 7 (unfortunately thats nearly 30 years ago, omg!!!). Its got the wooden peg sides and hideous wallpaper on it but it was made with love, and its stood the test of time!!! I remember my mum and my sister making me a bed for Sindy too. An upturned shoebox with covered foam on and a headboard made the same way!!! I've still got that too, not that I cant throw anything away, lol.... Anyway, have fun here, lots of love, sam...xx

Hello Sue! Welcome to this amazing forum! You will really love it on here, and you'll be settled in in no time! I can remember making a clothes shop for my Sindy's with help from Blue Peter, and I've just remembered, when I was at college, me and my mate Julie writing to Blue Peter with the idea of making a Sindy night club! I got a signed photo off Stuart Miles saying 'great idea' in return! I don't think they ever used our idea... can't think why... Hee hee!!! ;D Ineke xxx

Hi Sue Welcome and I love your story about making furniture for Sindy. We didn't heve blue peter in Holland, but I also made my own Sindy clothes and furniture. You can make a room using the pink Sindy-suitcase on a side Corine xxx
