I've been watching a few movies over the last few weeks as I have joined love films.com. Sadly our local global videos closed down a month or two ago and so there is nowhere nearby to rent dvds. It's quite a good service as there are no late fees, you post it back free of charge and no time limit for watching the movie It got me thinking about my favourite all time movies and the two that spring to mind are Calamity Jane and When Harry met Sally. There are lots of others that I like but they are top of the list. I think it's the feel good factor that appeals to me about them as well as the romantic inclination, especially in calamity jane with howard keel. I love that era where men were men and women were women (in the movies and books of course), the dresses and the thought of cowboys I'd love to know what are the favourite movies of everyone else

Having had a think about it..my favorite sort of movie from my childhood days are probably the same as Hannah's ..I loved ..The king and I and any Cinderella movie ..I didn't dress up !! That was probably because I didn't have a bridesmaid dress..I don't watch much TV but I think my favorite movie has got to be ET I just loved it ..Now who's laughing... ;D

Yes I remember 7 brides for 7 brothers ;D see I could sit and watch films like that all day. They're totally unreal but have that ever so warm & fuzzy feel good factor to them oh and I love An affair to remember. It makes me cry every time I see it at the moment when he realises why she couldn't meet him at the top of the empire state building

My Faves are: Sound of Music (saw it at the Capital Theatre Cinema in Cardiff in the 60s when it was first released) - I was only a kid then but it made a big impression on me!! I also like Ghost, Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail - the last two are Pure RomCom for me and give me the warm and fuzzy feelings every time. Two others I like a lot are Pearl Harbour and Enemy At The Gates. I appreciate a film that tells me a story. ;D I hate ones that just have mindless violence and literally no real story to them. I like the innocence of the old musicals too, as they also tell a story in their own way so Oliver, My Fair Lady and others of the Genre are always welcome distractions for me I love all the old Disney ones too and have a few on Video (must update to Disc with them). Bambi made me cry as a kid and still does when Mamma Deer gets killed Luv Anita xxxx

Hi Penny I liked that series too as there was a good story behind it that gripped you and wouldn't let go until the very end, just like Danielle Steele's Messages From 'Nam. I must get that film on DVD as I've only ever seen it on TV. Have read the book about 10 times now over the years I've had it!! I don't like all of Danielle Steele's stuff but that particular book and film struck a chord (probably because I was a Forces' wife for years) ;D Cheers, A xx
